Andalusia Animal Adventures

In the small town of Andalusia, AL, there’s a small, indoor, animal encounter experience called Andalusia Animal Adventures. As soon as I heard about it, I knew I had to go!

I decided as 2024 wound down, that for 2025 I wasn’t going to do any silly resolutions. No, I was going to do a bingo card full of goals for the year, all of which added up together to make up parts of my ultimate goals. One of my bingo spots was “interact with six different animals”. Now, I’m not talking things like cats and dogs. While those would technically fit the definition, they wouldn’t fit the spirit of the goal.

My friend Kimberly has been helping me come up with ways to achieve all of the goals I’ve set for the year and mark off my bingo card squares. She’s been particularly excited about the animals goal. One day while she was searching for animal encounters, she found the website for a brand new place about 2 hours away from us, Andalusia Animal Encounters. Now when I say brand new, I mean a friend from college that lives in Andalusia said it had only been officially open for about two weeks when Kimberly discovered it.

So, we grabbed our BFF necklaces, her son and his friend, and we drove down for a day trip to meet some animals.

The owners we so incredibly nice, and everyone on their staff was as friendly as they could possibly be. While were were paying and signing our waivers, Kimberly told them about the bingo card goal, and they made sure that I was able to mark all six off before I left.

As with anywhere with animals, especially small companies, the big question is always how well cared for the animals are. Andalusia Animal Adventures makes it VERY clear from the beginning that the safety and well-being of their animals is their top priority. Yes, they want you to have a good time, but not if it means any risk to the animals that are clearly treated like family pets (in a good way).

So what were these animals we saw? We got to interact with spider monkeys, baby kangaroos, a kinkajou, a two-toed sloth, a bearded dragon, a snake, and four tortoises. We also saw parrots, tarantulas, snakes, and a chameleon.
